There seems to be a growing demand for exercise bikes that double up as workstations, thanks to the convenience of being able to work out and exercise at the same time.

For a long time, under the desk fitness machines such as the FitDesk have been the most popular models offering this convenience.

Unfortunately, the under the desk ellipticals are not heavy duty enough, and more so, they're not comfortable, especially for the taller individuals.

The good news is, it’s still possible to find a workout machine that is more like the typical fitness machine, yet it will provide you with the convenience of being able to work and exercise.

One such model is the Exerpeutic ExerWorK 1000 Adjustable Desk Folding Exercise Bike.

In the Exerpeutic ExerWorK 1000 review below, we shall look at the specifics of this bike, and see whether it’s the right model for your fitness needs.

What Makes Exerpeutic ExerWorK 1000 So Awesome?

Sliding Desktop Design

The selling point of the Exerpeutic ExerWorK 1000 is the fully adjustable desk.

The sliding desk can move forward, backward, up and down; convenient adjustability, especially for users who spend most of their time behind laptops.

The good thing with the desk is the large surface dimension of 24 inches (W) x 16 inches (H), which is capable of holding even the largest files or electronics.

Better yet, the desk has a generous weight capacity of 44 pounds, meaning you can place your laptop, phone, tablets, and other electronics without worrying about compromising on its integrity.

Standing Desk

The sliding desktop is adjustable in 3 different angles of 0°, 16°, and 33°. Additionally, you can make five height adjustments ranging between 41 inches and 45 inches for ease of use, even when standing.

The adjustability settings on this machine will allow you to use the machine as a standing desk when you’re tired of sitting.

Foldable

Generally, exercise bikes are bulky, which makes them challenging to store or even move.

The good thing with the Exerpeutic ExerWorK 1000 is that you’ll no longer have to worry about space because it folds up for storage.

The folding capability will make it easier for you to store the machine, or even use it in apartments where space is premium.

Unique Features that Make Exerpeutic ExerWorK 1000 Interesting

Design

Typical of the Exerpeutic bikes, the Exerpeutic ExerWorK 1000 is as solid as it can get.

It boasts of a solid steel frame construction that enhances overall toughness and builds quality.

Generally, the Exerpeutic ExerWorK 1000 is quite solid and will last for a long time without breaking down.

Away from longevity, this bike is equally steady, and it’s easy for you to use it without the risk of the bike tipping over.

The steel frame, alongside the stabilizer bars, will help to keep the bike steady, and there should be no problems of the bike moving around during your workouts.

Dimensions and Capacity

ExerWork 1000 has a modest dimension of 45 x 51 x 25 inches, which can further be folded or storage purposes.

This bike is not hey either as it only weighs 64.7 pounds, but it has a decent weight capacity of 300 pounds.

Handlebars

This bike model features a single set of handlebars that are positioned level with the seat.

They act as support devices when working out.

The manufacturer has also integrated hand pulse sensors that riders can grip when they’re looking to monitor their heart rate.

To enhance comfort, the handlebars are covered with a cushioning material that promotes a comfortable grip and prevents your hand from sweating if they get sweaty.

Seat

The Exerpeutic ExerWorK 1000 comes with a large Airsoft seat that helps with the distribution of weight and promotes the good flow of air.

The Airsoft seat uses an aerodynamic design that distributes weight effectively while making it possible for users to sit on for long periods.

Better yet, the base of the seat is oversized, and this helps to accommodate users of different sizes.

The seat also features a support system, though I find it quite narrow for all across the back.

Again, the angled backrest is not as comfortable as I expected because of the thinner padding.

Nonetheless, it’s easy to overcome the comfort issue by adding an extra layer of towel.

Pedals

The pedals on this bike are positioned in front of you, and down at an angle, rather than more below or out in the front as we see on the recumbent bikes.

While it might take time before getting used to this pedal setting, it’s quite comfortable, easy on the joints and won’t exert much pressure on the different leg muscles.

Away from performance, these pedals are easy to use, as they come with adjustable straps to keep your feet from slipping.

The base area is also integrated with an anti-slip surface that will stop your feet from slipping during the workouts.

Resistance

Exerpeutic ExerWorK 1000 offers up to 8 levels of resistance.

I understand the resistance is nowhere impressive, but for an entry-level bike that serves as a workstation, I couldn’t expect more.

Using this feature, it’s easier for you to increase or decrease your preferred resistance depending on your fitness levels.

Drive System

This bike comes equipped with a V belt drive system and a balanced flywheel that promises a good and smooth pedaling.

When in use, you can rest be assured of knowing the bike generates minimal noise, and so, it removes the risk of disturbing others living in your house.

The noise is so low that it will even allow you to catch your favorite TV show.

What We Liked About Exerpeutic ExerWorK 1000

  • Affordable: If budget is a crucial consideration for you, then this is one product that should make it on your list. It’s an inexpensive option that has plenty of desirable features.
  • Comfortable Seat: The 2.5-inch thick Air Soft Cushion offers optimal comfort, while the aerodynamic design allows the seat to distribute the weight effectively.
  • Smooth Pedaling : The pedaling motion on this bike is smooth and responsive, while the transition between the resistance levels is quite seamless. This is as a result of the B-belt drive system, the 3-piece torque cranks, and the balanced flywheel.
  • Space-Efficient: If you lack the luxury of space to spare, this bike is an incredible option because it’s both compact and lightweight, too.

What We Didn’t Like About Exerpeutic ExerWorK 1000

  • Small LCD: The display on this model is quite small, and it only displays the basic information. Even worse is that it has no pre-programmed workouts, though this is not surprising at this price point.

Bottomline & Verdict

The Exerpeutic ExerWorK 1000 is an ideal bike option for those living in the space spaces.

It’s compact and foldable.

It’s also a great option if you don’t mind spending a fortune.

Despite the low-admission price and entry-level tag, it comes with all the features you will need in an exercise bike.
