FTC Disclosure Compliance Rules

The Federal Trade Commission put forward a new set of Disclosure Compliance rules in 2015

The rules act as a guideline for ensuring that users of web media get to know if the publishers or bloggers are indeed endorsed, partnered with, or sponsored with different companies. The users should be aware if the publisher of the content is earning by sharing products or links.

As per the FTC guidelines, it is important to assume the following about any posts and links on this website:

All the links founds on bikeshaven.com are affiliate links and as such I earn a small reward from the sale of various products.

What Are Affiliate Links?

Purchases on outside affiliate company sites are made; when users click on links found on bikeshaven.com to buy goods. The purchase is made directly from its seller and not from this website (bikeshaven.com).

bikeshaven.com earns a small commission from Amazon and/or other companies for the assistance in bringing customers to their site.

The prices remain constant for users whether or not the purchase is made through an affiliate or non-affiliate link. The and other variables remain unchanged when an affiliate or an non-affiliate link is clicked.

There are two types of affiliate programs used by bikeshaven.com:

  1. Amazon affiliate links.

bikeshaven.com

is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for website owners to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites, as well as to other websites that may be affiliated with Amazon Service LLC Associates Program.

  1. Product affiliate links.

I normally receive a small percentage of the sale or some other form of compensation when a user clicks on a product affiliate link.

It is important to note again that the price of a product does not change when you purchase using affiliate links. You pay the exact same amount when you click on the link meaning that the links are not “”pay per click”.

What about sponsored content?

I never write content for sponsored posts. I endeavor to provide information that is accurate and objective. I will, however, disclose the facts concerning any company that would like to post sponsored content on bikeshaven.com at the beginning of that particular post.

More importantly I only recommend the products that I use personally; they are those that I would be free to recommend to my friends and family.

Any purchase you make goes a long way in supporting my research. Your effort is much appreciated. Thank you!
