How we make money

Commerce Content is independent of Editorial and Advertising, and if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication. Here's how we make money.

Last Updated on December 24, 2020

When we started Bikes Haven 3 years ago, we didn’t know it would grow fast into one of the top resources for entry-level and pro cyclists.

Today, we have a growing readership of cycling enthusiasts who not only get value from our content but also get the right buying advice.

In fact, our readers are the reason why we spend countless hours researching, testing, and reviewing bikes, cycling accessories, and gears. You can see our review process here for more information.

But how exactly do we make our money?

First off, we believe in being as transparent as possible, not only with our content but also by the way we generate revenue. That’s why we feel it’s important for you to know how we make our money.

Second, affiliate and ads networks require that site owners declare their source of income. This not only enforces transparency but also strengthens and upholds the trustworthiness of a website or business.

So How Does Bikes Have Make Money

Like many blogs that make money on the Internet, Bikes Haven is a reader-supported platform. Without our readership, it wouldn’t be possible for us to make money to run this blog, keep it up to date, and ensure it’s up and running.

With that said, here’s the breakdown of how we earn:

Affiliate Income

Bikes Haven is a member of several affiliate networks. Our product recommendation pages contain affiliate links to different platforms. When you, the reader, come to our site, read a product round up, click the affiliate link of the product we recommend, and buy the item, we earn a commission.

Our most popular affiliate networks include Amazon and Rei.

To be clear, we don’t influence the cost of a product and the affiliate commission that we earn as a result doesn’t add any cost to your purchase.

Display Advertising

Our website also makes money via display advertising. As you read some of our informational (aka the tips) post, you’ll see advertisements when you scroll. Ads network such as Mediavine and Ezoic will track the impressions and clicks that our website registers from every visit and reward us.

We do comply with the advertising rules of these networks. And as much as their policy differ from one another, we’ve done our best to streamline our content to fit their terms and conditions of service.

Sponsored posts aren’t quite common on Bikes Haven, but they’re still one of the ways we make money. Once in a while, blog and ecommerce storeowners will approach us to do a sponsored post for them and will pay us a certain amount of money for the work.

Often, you’ll see these posts marked as sponsored.

Conclusion

We reveal how we make money because we want to be as transparent as possible. Also, Bikes Haven is a website with people behind it. Our content and editorial team works so hard to ensure you get up-to-date and accurate information to help you become a better cyclist.
