Best Cycling Energy Bars Reviews

1. RXBAR Energy Bar

RXBAR claims to be a “No BS” business, giving you an energy bar that has only the healthiest ingredients that you need.

With no added sugar, this might as well be the healthiest energy bar to throw in your cycling backpack or pants. This bar is a combination of nuts, dates, natural flavor, fruits, and egg whites.

What’s to love about this bar? It’s that it doesn’t contain any artificial sugar. At the very least, the 15 grams of sugar in the bar are from fruits, which make it an organic eats for before and after cycling.

With as much as 7 grams of fat and 2 grams of protein, this is the best cycling bar to eat after a tough session of biking. They’ll help you recover your energy faster, so you don’t feel fatigued thereafter.

You can also eat this before you head out. But if you’re going to ride your bike for long, it’s best to buy more so you have something to eat after the workout.

Pros

  • Tasty energy bar with no added sugar
  • Good for after cycling workout, as it’s good for replenishing energy

Cons

  • It’s sticky

2. Bearded Brothers Organic Energy Bars

Bearded Brothers make some of the tastiest bars out there.

And this organic option, which comes in five different flavors, is a good option to consider if you need some seriously healthy bars to eat before and after cycling.

Some of the ingredients available in these bars include walnuts, sea salt, chia seed, ginger, dates, and peaches.

What I love about the ingredients is that they’re all organic.

Again, each bar has about 15 gram of sugar, 5 grams of fat, and about 5 grams of protein content.

This means that, for the price, you get healthy bars that can boots your performance during cycling and rejuvenate you after your tough riding session.

Pros

  • Each bar, each flavor is as delicious
  • The ingredients are all-natural, making this a healthy option for the price
  • Good for low to high-intensity cycling workouts

Cons

  • The bars are rather too small for the price tag

3. Go Raw Seed Energy Bars

Go Raw seed energy bars are one of the best to eat before and after cycling.

The pack isn’t just gluten free.

It’s also a good option to consider if you’re looking for something vegan.

Plus, you will love this one because it’s 100% organic, so you can eat healthy, replenish your energy, and boost your cycling performance.

The organic ingredients, like sesame, sunflower, and flaxseed, mean the fat content in this energy bar isn’t at all harmful to your health.

Sweetened only with natural dates and raisin, and having no trace of artificial sugar whatsoever, Go Raw Seeds are downright among the best energy bars that men and women can eat before cycling workout.

Pros

  • Healthy energy bars that don’t contain any artificial sugar
  • All ingredients are organic and this one is even good for cyclists who are vegan

Cons

  • I wish the amount of fat in this were a bit lower

4. Kind Gluten Free Energy Bars

Kind is, at best, one of the leading makers of energy bars that you can eat before and after cycling.

Today, the brand has a combination of different flavors, giving you a variety of option so you can choose what best suits your taste.

If you like, you can try out different flavors, from nut combo to spicy sweet mix, to decide which one to stick with.

What I love about this energy bar is that the ingredient list is as good as you’d want it to be.

In other words, the bars contain low sugar, cocoa powder, glucose, honey, chicory root fiber, vanilla extract, and more.

You’ll love it even more because it’s gluten-free, not to mention that it’s not a GMO product.

Pros

  • This bar is a good source of protein and it has a very low sugar content
  • Good for regular consumption, you can eat them before and after riding your bike

Cons

  • These seem to expire in a very short time

5. Taos Bakes Energy Bars

If you’re looking for energy bars that come in a variety of flavors, from vanilla bean to toasted coconut, go for Taos Bakes bars.

Sweet and tasty, and obviously with different textures, these are great to eat before you start cycling and after you finish that intense biking session.

Pros

  • Healthy and safe, mostly because all ingredients are organic
  • Spicy, tastes exactly like real energy bars
  • Low sugar content, only about 12 grams
  • This energy bar is gluten-free and is non-GMO

Cons

  • The package may be small for some cyclists
  •  Contains about 12 grams of sugar, but this may be too much for some

Conclusion

There’s no right or wrong time to eat an energy bar. Even then, I’d like to share some thoughts on timing based on your level of cycling. If you’re just getting started with cycling, eat the bars after. This will help to replenish your energy reserve. If you’re training for intense ride, or you’re a pro athlete already, eat the bars before and after cycling.
