It's no secret that many of us yearn working out regularly, but unfortunately, our obligations often clash with our schedules.
For those who work in an office seated, the situation is even worse, because it normally translates to a sedentary lifestyle.
And as we know, a sedentary lifestyle is associated with poor health outcomes, including the development of lifestyle diseases such as heart diseases and diabetes.
Is there any hope for us?
There’re several ways to make your sedentary life active.
One effective way is use of best mini desk elliptical trainers, popularly known as the min desk trainers.
And today, we're going to review DeskCycle Ellipse Under Desk Elliptical Machine, among the highly rated mini-desk trainers in the market.
The DeskCycle Ellipse is a small, low-profile, foot-pedal machine designed to fit under your desk.
It’ll let you perform your daily obligations, while at the same time, meeting your fitness needs.

What Makes DeskCycle Ellipse Under Desk Elliptical Machine So Awesome?
The biggest concern with mini trainers is their stability, especially when in use.
With such a small footprint, it would be easy to think that it’s going to move around once you start using it.
Surprisingly, however, it’s quite stable, and if you’ve any concerns with the machine moving, it has a Velcro strap that you can loop around your chair and connect it to the elliptical.
I found the Velcro strap quite handy is keeping your chair from rolling even if it has wheels.
If you think that’s quite a hassle, you’ve the option of pushing the elliptical against the wall for enhanced stability.
Most of the under-desk ellipticals do not have the options for reverse motion.
With the DeskCycle Ellipse, however, you get a bike mode that can move in either direction, both forward and backward.
While I agree the bidirectional capability might limit the natural path of your feet and legs, these feature is quite handy, especially in engaging a variety of your leg and core muscles.
Balance Work and Exercise
This benefit might not be limited to the DeskCycle Ellipse alone, but rather to the collective mini desk trainers.
Here, the DeskCycle Ellipse will let you have a low-impact workout, at the same time being productive at work.
And because of its elliptical motion, it’s easier to realize your fitness needs without exerting too much strain and stress in your legs.
The DeskCycle Ellipse will allow you to execute light leg movements, while at the same time working at your desk and complete the tasks for the day.

Unique Features that Make DeskCycle Ellipse Under Desk Elliptical Machine Interesting
DeskCycle Ellipse comes with significantly larger pedals than those on the regular under-desk pedals.
The pedals resemble a boot-shaped platform, which in my opinion, might be a better choice, especially if you've larger feet.
Unlike the under desk bike, the DeskCycle Ellipse motion is more of a forward and backward as opposed to circular.
So, in more than one way, the DeskCycle Ellipse will mimic the natural movement of your feet because it’s much more like climbing a stair or even walking.
The larger foot surface, alongside the elliptical pattern on the DeskCycle Ellipse, will allow you to target different muscle groups in your legs.
For optimal results, however, I suggest you vary how you step on the foot pedal; for instance, you can choose to step on the pedal on your toes, heels, or flat-footed.
By changing the foot position, it becomes easier to target an extensive range of muscles.
DeskCycle Ellipse comes with eight resistance levels, which you can adjust based on your fitness needs and level of endurance.
The lowest levels, for instance, are a great option for the beginners, or simply those who are looking for less strenuous activity.
If you’re the athletic types as I am, you can choose the highest setting, and here you can be sure to break a sweat.
Now, what I like about the performance of this elliptical is that it's more effective on the overall performance of the standing elliptical machine.
According to the manufacturer, three revolutions per second are capable of burning at least twice the number of calories you would achieve on a standing elliptical.
Under the hood of the DeskCycle Ellipse, you’ll find a magnetically driven resistance mechanism.
Now, if you know anything about drive systems, you know that magnetic systems are the quietest in the market.
With this system, the pedaling is smooth and almost silent, which is ideal for an office setting.
The DeskCycle Ellipse doesn't generate any obnoxious noise, and your coworkers or even your boss won’t notice if you’re working out.
At the same time, the machine will allow you to work out without getting distracted from your work.
Unlike the standing elliptical machines, DeskCycle Ellipse is lightweight and highly portable.
So, it’s more prone to theft.
The good news is, it’s compatible with Kensington lock, so it's easy to secure it, even when in a public workspace.
Since works below your feet, it would be a challenge to monitor your metrics, but the manufacturer has made it easy by making the LCD screen detachable.
The LCD can be propped and put on your desk for easy monitoring of speed, time, RPM, revolutions, calories burned, and more.
What We Liked About DeskCycle Ellipse Under Desk Elliptical Machine
- Portable: At 23 pounds, DeskCycle Ellipse is relatively lightweight compared to other elliptical machines. Though I wouldn't recommend moving it often, it's still a possibility.
- Quiet Operation: The magnetic resistance on the DeskCycle Ellipse delivers a smooth and noiseless performance ideal where silence is premium.
- Wide Resistance Range: Though the resistance doesn’t match even that of entry-level standing elliptical machines, for such a compact and convenient unit, I still think the eight resistance levels are pretty decent.
What We Didn’t Like About DeskCycle Ellipse Under Desk Elliptical Machine
LCD: This is my least favorite feature on this machine. It looks a bit cheap, especially when comparing it to the price of the bike.
Also, when not detached, it's easy to knock it off pretty easily from the defacto footrest.
Bottomline & Verdict
DeskCycle Ellipse is a compact and low-profile fitness machine that will allow you to workout discreetly while at the same time, allowing you to meet your work obligations.
It's an ideal option for those who always spend their time glued in an office chair and yet, want to break away from the sedentary lifestyle.
