The SF-B901 is a simple, no-frills affordable indoor exercise bike that I think is perhaps gets overshadowed by the fancier models of the indoor bikes that boast of an array of computer feature and little luxuries.

Despite lacking a console, it’s surprisingly a solid bike, reliable, and entirely suited for both the beginners as well as the more advanced users.

Best of all, this bike comes with a heavy flywheel that delivers a smooth and comfortable ride.

Alongside the 40 pound flywheel, this bike has some nifty features that will allow you to enjoy your spinning classes at the comfort of your home.

But is the SF-B901 the right exercise bike for you?

Let’s find out in our SF-B901 review below.

What Makes Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B901 So Awesome?

40 Pound Flywheel

The flywheel is an essential part of any exercise bike.

Generally, the heavier the flywheel, the smoother your ride; the 40lbs flywheel on the SF-B901 creates momentum for longer periods, keeping your workout going the distance.

More importantly, the extra-heavy flywheel offers an unusually smooth ride, which makes it a great option for experienced and long-distance cyclists.

When in use, the flywheel makes the jerky movement and those out-of-control feelings a thing of the past, regardless of the speed or resistance level.

Simple Design

I can’t say enough about the straightforward design of the SF-B901.

The design is modest, and though it lacks the bells and whistles of other models’ I love that you get exactly what you pay for, despite the absence of the expensive electronics add-ons.

The simple design also eases the assembly process, and with this bike, it’s easy to set it up within a couple of minutes.

Right Features

You might think that since it doesn't have lots of extra features, it lacks the right ones.

In reality, SF-B901 has the right biking features to make your indoor cycling even more fulfilling.

The bike adjustable felt pad resistance, alongside the smooth chain drive, is sufficient to give you everything you need to break a sweat.

Unique Features that Make Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B901 Interesting

The design of the SF-B901 is impeccable.

In particular, the construction falls nothing short of excellence.

The machine is durably constructed, and the sturdy frame construction extends the longevity as well as the toughness of the machine.

A clear indication of the strength of SF-B901 is the decent 275-pound weight capacity.

The weight capacity might not be the highest in its class, but considering SF-B901 is an entry-level and budget option, you’ll see why we’re gaga over it.

The handlebars on the SF-B901 are thickly padded to provide a strong grip and are horizontally adjustable for comfort.

In typical exercise bikes, somewhere in between the handlebars, you'll find a console, but it lacks on this bike.

SF-B901 doesn’t come with any kind of console.

For users who are looking to work out for a certain period, the absence of a console isn't bothersome.

However, if you value metrics such as distance traveled, time, speed, and calories burned, then it might be a reason for concern.

Fortunately, this can be fixed by investing in a portable console.

Unfortunately, the seat on the SF-B901 is not made with comfort in mind, though it’s adjustable.

The seat lacks cushioning, but that can be fixed by adjusting the seat.

If that doesn’t help, you can always purchase a separate gel cover for the seat.

It’s also possible to swap the seat with any regular bike seat.

SF-B901 comes with regular pedals that include toe clips and straps.

The straps are highly adjustable, and so, they can easily accommodate different shoe sizes.

Another good thing with the pedals is the heavy-duty cranks that will let you take on the rigorous pedaling without worrying about their structural integrity.

Like the seat, if you feel the pedals are not comfortable enough for you, it’s possible to replace them with the standard bicycle pedals.

Posture is incredibly crucial with indoor cycling, and so, you need to get the right settings for both the pedals and handlebars before you start your workout.

Fortunately, these two features will give you the perfect workout, thanks to their adjustability.

For instance, it’s possible to adjust the seats both horizontally and vertically.

The horizontal adjustability settings for the seat make the bike an ideal option for users with different heights ranging from 5’1” to 6’2”.

The handlebars, on the other hand, can be altered vertically to allow riders to find a position comfortable for them.

What I like most with the handlebars is the unique multi-grip design that gives the rider plenty of choice for hand position, thus keeping you comfortable on the long cycling sessions.

Drive System

The SF-B901 runs on a highly efficient Crank and Smooth Chai Drive Mechanism.

The set up runs smoothly and quietly, and it's less prone to break down.

Moreover, the smooth chain drive mechanism offers continuity of power to the structure of the bike.

Resistance on the SF-B901 is provided by two felt pads that correspondingly generate friction with the ordinary bike.

The bikes make it easy to change the resistance by use of the conveniently place tension knob

What We Liked About Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B901

  • Adjustable: Both the seat and height settings on the SF-B901 are highly adjustable, and so, it’s easier to find the ideal bike setting for optimal productivity.
  • Portable: Alongside the lightweight and modest design, this model comes with caster wheels that enhance the portability element.
  • Heavy Duty: The entire SF-B901 set up is quite robust, and it’s designed to handle even the most rigorous workouts without breaking down.

What We Didn’t Like About Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B901

  • No Console: The biggest flaw on this spin bike is the absence of a computer screen for monitoring your workout sessions. Now, if you’re in the habit of regularly checking your performance metrics on the screen, you’ll be in for a big disappointment. The good news is, you can always get a portable console to keep tabs of your workout information.

Bottomline & Verdict

The SF-B901 might have its flaws, but they're much of a deal-breaker.

If anything, there's always a solution to the drawbacks.

Now, save for the lack of a console, which we’ve seen is replaceable, the SF-B901 is an incredible spin bike.

It has the necessary features to elevate your fitness, and better yet, it’s easy on your pockets.
