If you’re torn between an elliptical machine and a recumbent bicycle, then you’re going to love the ProForm Hybrid Trainer.

As its name suggests, this trainer is a cross between the recumbent bike and elliptical machine, only that both are in a convenient and space-saving single package.

The theory of a combo machine sounds great, especially if you're like who doesn't have room for two separate machines.

But in reality, will the dual machine deliver a serious workout?

This is a good question, and it will be answered well in our Proform Hybrid Trainer Review below.

What Makes ProForm Hybrid Trainer So Awesome?

Proform Hybrid Recument Elliptical

2-in-1 Trainer

As we had indicated in the introduction, ProForm Hybrid Trainer performs double duty, acting both as a recumbent bike and an elliptical bike.

Now, with the ProForm Hybrid Trainer, you’re essentially getting two pieces of fitness equipment for the price of one.

Aside from increasing the value for your money, the 2-in-1 element enhances the variety of workouts and makes your workouts more interesting.

The good thing with the setup is that it only takes two quick adjustments to transform from one mode to the other.

Contrary to other 2-in-1 bikes, it's not a challenge to adjust, and if anything, you can perform them is less than 30 seconds.

Increased Workouts

Versatility is the spice of life.

Now, if you've been training before, you know that you need to commit yourself to the long term to achieve results.

Unfortunately, with most trainers, boredom often creeps in after repeated use.

With the ProForm Hybrid Trainer, you can say goodbye to boredom, because, here, you’ll have access to an extensive range of workouts, both on the elliptical bike and the recumbent.

By mixing things up, it'll become easy for you to lose weight fast, tone your body, shed some calories, and improve your general fitness.

Weight Capacity

proform weight

Considering the weight capacity of a trainer is necessary as it ensures that you can safely use the machine, and you’ll have a clear, objective on how sturdy it is.

With the ProForm Hybrid Trainer, you get a generous weight capacity of 350 pounds, which I find pretty impressive, especially in this price range.

Target Pacer

A notable element on the console of the ProForm Hybrid Trainer is the target pacer that lets you customize your workouts.

Target pacer displays a light that alerts you if you either slow down or speed up.

This way, the machine will let you work out at the optimal training zone and will make it easier for you to track your goals.

Specifications

  • Weight: 142 pounds
  • Weight capacity: 350 pounds
  • Dimension: 45″ x 18″ x 24″

Unique Features that Make ProForm Hybrid Trainer Interesting

Build Quality

The build quality is decent, but it’s nothing charming, either.

I've to admit there's nothing to get excited about the material construction, but at the same time, we can't point at anything outrightly terrible.

The frame is incredibly strong, but there have been claims by some users that the display is fragile that it breaks after several months of use.

In my opinion, though, what matters most in a trainer is the frame, while other features take a back seat.

A testimony to the sturdy frame is the generous weight capacity of 350 pounds.

While still on the weight, ProForm Hybrid Trainer weighs 142 pounds, and the weight alongside the heavier flywheel adds to the overall stability of the trainer.

Handlebars

As an elliptical trainer, the ProForm Hybrid Trainer comes with two sets of handlebars.

The static handlebar offers the ideal option for working on your legs, while the moving handlebars will let you work out on your arms and upper body.

Seat

As a recumbent bike, you'll find an adjustable seat that has been integrated with cushioning and lumbar support to make your ride as comfortable as possible.

The good thing with the seat is that it sits on a slanted rail, so it's easy to make a horizontal and vertical adjustment.

Pedals

When you first look at ProForm Hybrid Trainer, you might wonder how pedals will work on this bike.

Of course, there’s no way elliptical pedals will feel right when cycling.

Fortunately, the manufacture understands your concerns, and so, they've included a separate flip up the pedal, and so, you'll no longer have to get worried about the elliptical pedal when cycling.

Stride Length

ProForm Hybrid Trainer has a stride length of 15”, which isn't badly off the 20" gold standard.

However, at 15" users above 6 feet are going to struggle a bit, especially when they're looking to achieve a full leg stretch.

But again, for a hybrid bike, I would say the length is quite fair and wouldn’t expect the best of the elliptical features.

Resistance and Incline

ProForm Hybrid Trainer packs 14 levels of resistance.

It's not the highest, but it makes the trainer ideal for a range of users, from beginners to intermediary users.

With this trainer, it’s easy to tailor your resistance based on your fitness levels.

Unfortunately, the trainer lacks an incline capability, but the good news is, this is compensated for by the fact that it allows you to ride it, whether standing or sitting.

Reverse Motion

Another awesome element of this trainer is the reversible range of motion.

Regardless of whether you’re cycling or working out, this feature will allow you to alternate between the forward and backward running motion.

What We Liked About ProForm Hybrid Trainer

  • Console: Though the console is quite basic, it’s feature-packed with elements that you normally find in the high-end trainers. The iFit Bluetooth Smart, for instance, allows you to access unlimited workouts if you've an iFit subscription.
  • Full-Body Design: The two-in-one design is a huge selling point on this trainer as it allows you to achieve a full-body workout.
  • Quiet Operation: The magnetic resistance on this trainer allows for quiet and noiseless operation.

What We Didn’t Like About ProForm Hybrid Trainer

  • Defective units: This trainer isn’t exactly the Cadillac of the fitness industry. Some of the features on this trainer are flimsy, and it’s not uncommon for users to mention the presence of broken parts.

Bottomline & Verdict

ProForm Hybrid Trainer is specially targeted for fitness enthusiasts who require to work out calmly.

This trainer offers a light-duty operation and is suitable for working out at home.

It's an ideal option for the casual rider, who is not looking for advanced features or programs.
